Meet The Owner

Melissa J.

Prior to obtaining my cosmetology license I was a Chemical Engineer for 13 years. I received my BS from Drexel University and my MBA from Widener University. As an engineer I worked manufacturing sodium laurel sulfate…i.e shampoo/cleaning agents. I also had the opportunity to work in a refinery and nuclear facility. With changes in the economy and realizing that someone, other than myself, had control of my livelihood and could impact my life in a split second, didn’t sit well with me….I had always had a love for hair, but never realized how I would get there…I was always keeping abreast of the latest in hair styles and techniques. A friend had allowed me to do natural hair services in his salon and that sealed the deal. So after receiving my MBA, I felt a yearning to pursue my true love….Cosmetology….After completing cosmetology school, while still working as a full time engineer…Hair was all I could think of! But I knew I didn’t want to just be your typical hair stylist..I wanted my own salon. I wanted the ability to add value and make a difference…..So with that, in February 2008, I began my new journey as he proud owner of Tangibles Salon & Beautique. The word “tangible” means the ability to be touched or perceived through the sense of touch…It was perfect! Because we as stylist are powerful with our hands….we touch all day long…and not only through the physical…we touch our clients lives as well…

The Beautique portion of the salon was intended to focus on hair replacement, growth and extension services. Being concerned with women issues pertaining to hair loss has been my main focus. Being able to actively educate my clients and preventing hair loss has been my goal..I am a hair engineer to my clients, offering them honesty, creativity, professionalism, education, quality products and hair care. Unfortunately for many, I am too late, so I made it a point to become trained and educated to offer those clients a solution. Yes, Ms.Hair Engineer, because of my love for hair, continued education and desire to say ahead of the rest. I continue to improve my skills and stay abreast with the latest trends in hair styling, hair loss trends and statistics, research, hair replacement techniques, extension/weave methods and products. I’ve had the opportunity to train with some of the industry’s best in lace wigs applications, various weave/extension techniques, fusion, micro-links and more! My goal is to offer each client a solution to fit their hair needs and life style.

I had always dreamed of becoming a business owner and now, I am living out my passion: to serve people, make them beautiful, offer value added solutions and make a difference in the community. Today, I am living proof that with perseverance, dedication and a golden opportunity, that anything is possible. My chemical background, attention to detail and professionalism I learned from my experience have carried over to my everyday salon experience…I strive to maintain a professional salon environment that is customer service focused. I am also dedicated in supporting community activities and various organizations. I thank all of my supportive and loving clients for their continued trust and loyalty, for without them, I would not have succeeded thus far. I am looking forward to the promise of the coming years and serving all of the valued Tangibles Salon & Beautique Clients: Present and Future.
